Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia is a 548-bed tertiary-care teaching hospital located in North Philadelphia. The hospital has an accredited Level I Regional Resource Trauma Center and one of the busiest emergency rooms in Philadelphia. The Einstein Medical Center is part of the Einstein Healthcare network.
Einstein Healthcare Network started with just 22 beds in 1866 as the Jewish Hospital. In 1952, the Jewish Hospital merged with two others in the city—Mount Sinai and Northern Liberties hospitals. Taking on the name of renowned scientist Albert Einstein—who graciously gave his permission —the new network eventually grew to what it is today: a private, not-for-profit organization with several major hospitals, many outpatient centers and numerous primary care and specialty care locations throughout the Philadelphia region.
